Top Designers’ “No-No” List

In this article, Architectural Digest shared some of what’s on the world’s top designers’ “no-no” list. We’d have to agree with most everything highlighted—and we guess that puts us in good company. If you’re considering working with Brooke & Birdie, we’ll bring you a lot of ideas. And, we’ll work to find opportunities to bring our expertise and your style together for a space that’s personal, warm and beautiful. In those consultations, here’s what you can expect NOT to see from us.

  1. Cold LED lighting – The right lighting can make the room’s atmosphere shine. Never will harsh LED lights bring the feel that we want to achieve for you.
  2. Cheap fake flowers and greenery – Every room needs something living. So, we’ll suggest some greenery or perhaps a Fiddle Leaf Fig, but never anything cheap.
  3. Glass-beaded wall coverings – We wouldn’t even know where to find these…maybe the flea market?
  4. Grey paint that is too cold – Grey can be a wonderful neutral, but it must have warm undertones for it to be the right grey.
  5. Mini-blinds – No home deserves mini blinds, especially when there are so many lovely alternatives.
  6. Rugs and lamps that are too small – The right scale and dimensions for rugs and lamps can either make or break a room.
